EVENTS - CALENDAR OF EVENTS

"BIBLE UNIVERSITY" - SEPTEMBER 7-OCTOBER 12

We have the plans in place, the teachers are getting prepared, and the Bibles are blank! Parents of 3rd graders are encouraged to write a message to their child and select a Bible verse in their Bibles BEFORE classes start on Sunday, Sept. 7th. The Bibles are on a table in the Fellowship Hall. Please see Shana Erie or Gayle Balster if you have any questions. Thank you for helping eat all that cereal these past few weeks. Now you have an opportunity to stop by the Sunday School classes to see how we are putting these boxes to work as our 3-6 grade children experience and learn about the Word of God!

FRIENDSHIP ABLAZE! PRAYER VIGIL - SEPTEMBER 26 - SEPTEMBER 27

Beginning on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. on September 26th until 6:00 p.m. on Saturday evening, September 27th, you are invited to spend one hour in prayer in the sanctuary.  This is not out loud praying with another person.  This is your time with your Lord and Savior.  I personally have never spent one hour in prayer in any church sanctuary.  Someone will be there to greet you and give you a prayer vigil folder and Bible, unless you bring your own Bible.  This folder will give selected Bible readings and support for one hour in prayer.

“Why not just pray at home by myself?”  For some people this may be the only option.  We are a church family and I know that I need family support for my walk of faith.  I Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.”  To know that someone or many will be praying, taking watch over our family with twenty four hours covered in prayer is exciting and builds our walk of faith.

If you are moved by the Holy Spirit to fill out a prayer request slip while praying, you will be given that opportunity.  These requests will then be continued on for prayer by the church “Prayer Warriors Ministry”.

Beginning on August 31st a 3D cardboard clock model will be in the church entrance for you to sign up so that 24 hours of prayer in the sanctuary will be a reality and not just a good idea.  Thank you in advance for taking your prayer watch for the present and future family members of OSLC.

NORSK HOSTFEST - SEPTEMBER 30-OCTOBER 4

It's time once again! Volunteers are needed for OSLC's food booths at the Norsk Hostfest. It's a fun way to "hang out" with your church family, take in the sights and sounds of the Hostfest with a free ticket, and at the same time, benefit the ministries of your church. Last year more than $2,000 was given to OSLC Youth and Mission ministries! But without your help it won't happen. Young? Old? New to OSLC? Long time member? There's a place for you! Sign up for your shifts at the table in the Fellowship Hall today!

ADULT MISSION GROUP - THIRD ANNUAL TACO FIESTA - OCTOBER 26

The Third Annual Taco Fiesta will be held on Sunday, October 26th from 11-4 p.m.  True to form we will be having a Silent Auction from 8:30 a.m.- 4:00 p.m.  Money raised will be used to help defray the cost of transportation for adults going on the 2009 mission trip to Mexico February 28th  -  March 7th.  If you are willing to help with the Taco Fiesta or obtain items for the Silent Auction please contact Joyce Goodvin at 858-9900 or Wayne Johnson at 833-7506.
