FOUNDATIONS OF FAITH
Is it time to go through the Bible and rediscover the foundational truths of the Christian faith? Then check out the 7 week course, “Foundations of Faith” which starts Tuesday night, October 7th. As Pastor Krueger teaches this class, you can take in and discover fresh insights into the great truths of the Christian faith. Both life-long Lutherans and those just exploring the Christian faith find this class very rewarding. You’ll be amazed at what you’ll discover as you take part! Perhaps there’s someone that you can bring along to class? This course is also a part of the membership process for those who are considering joining OSLC. Mark your calendars now and make plans to take part!
C.L.A.S.S 201
This is a great opportunity
for you to begin to move into a deeper relationship with Jesus, the
church, and members of the congregation. This course will help
answer some of those questions like, “Where do I go now?”, “What do
I do next?”
Feel free to come and find out what it
means to discover your spiritual maturity!
SMALL GROUP MINISTRIES
Friendship Ablaze! is now in full swing and will continue until September 28th which is Friendship Sunday. Our goal is to have 100 visitors in church on the 28th to hear the life-changing news of Jesus Christ and the salvation He desires for each of His children. The 4-week sermon series and 5-week small group studies will focus on giving witness of the hope that is within us to another person so that person might encounter Christ and be saved. It’s not too late to sign up to be part of a small group. There are sign up forms in the Fellowship Hall at the Friendship Ablaze! table. If you find you just can’t commit to being part of a small group study at this time, please talk to me. I would love to get the study materials to you so you can do them on your own time. I would also like to encourage you to be a part of the Prayer Vigil that is taking place September 26th and 27th from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. You’ll find more information about that in another article in this newsletter. May God guide and direct you as you reach out with the love of Jesus Christ to your friends who need to know about the Friend who laid down His life for them.
vOLUNTEER mINISTRIES
There are many volunteer service opportunities available here at OSLC for you to use the gifts God has lavished on you. Especially this fall with the start up of so many of our programs such as KFC, Sunday School, Confirmation, NUTS, small group Bible studies, choir, etc. We always need ushers, nursery attendants, servers for funerals, readers, greeters, sewing disciples, prayer warriors, drama team – oh, don’t get me going because I know I could never name all of the wonderful groups of people who work out the faith that the Holy Spirit has put in them! So how do you find out more about these ministries?
- Check out the brochure rack behind the information table in the fellowship hall.
- Check out the insert in your worship bulletin for some immediate opportunities/needs.
- Check out the volunteer Commitment Forms found on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall.
- Call the church office.
- Talk to Bonnie Rennich!
Sewing disciples
Want to be a part of an exciting mission project? Join the Sewing Disciples on Monday, September 8th and again on Monday, September 22nd. We start at 9:30 a.m. and work until noon. Bring a sack lunch to enjoy a time of fellowship as we eat our noon lunch together. We work on quilts, school kits, health kits, sewing kits and layettes for Lutheran World Relief. You don’t even have to know how to sew!! We meet twice per month from September through April.
With all the back to school sales, it’s a great time to pick up supplies for school kits. We have lots of crayons and pencils, but we could really use the following:
- Spiral Notebooks
- (3 notebooks are included in each kit)
- Blunt Scissors
- Rulers (with inches & centimeters)
- Pencil Sharpeners
- 2 ½” Long Erasers
- Construction Paper
If you would like to donate any of the above items, please drop them by the church office. Thank You!
forever young
Are you in the 50+ age group? We’d love to have you join us on Friday, September 19th as our Forever Young group gathers for a potluck supper at 6:00 p.m. sharp here at OSLC! It is a wonderful opportunity for fellowship as we enjoy the delicious food prepared by some of the best cooks in the county!
Our new vicar, Anders Davidson and his wife, Sarah will be sharing with us for our program this month. It will give us a chance to get to know them as they share a little about themselves and for them to get to know us! Please come and help make them feel welcome!
See you on September 19th. Don’t forget to invite someone to join you for this evening of good fun, food and fellowship!
May peace and joy be yours,
Duane & Clara Schell
