ALTAR GUILD

Mission:
The mission of the altar guild is to make sure things are ready for Sunday and Wednesday and special Worship Service.

Time Commitment:
Help is needed prior to each worship service and following communion service. Time each weeks is dependent upon the number of services and type of service (eg. Communion).

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Assist in setting up communion ware
- Changing paraments to the proper color for each Church season
- Take care of floral arrangements for the alter
- Replace candles on the altar as needed
- Assist in washing and putting away communion ware after services

ANGEL TREE

Mission:
Angel Tree Ministry focuses on the Holy Spirit transforming the lives of those who give, those who deliver gifts, the children, the family members and the incarcerated member during their separation and reconciliation.

Time Commitment:
Committing time to the 5 areas of service is an individual decision made through prayer.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Pray for the giver, the delivery team, the children, and the inmates
- Set up and preparation for a successful Angel Tree Christmas celebration of Christ's birth
- Delivery of gifts to the church and then to the children
- Pray for the message of Christ to be accepted by the children, the families and the inmates
- Anonymity is a priority of this program

BAPTISMAL BANNERS TEAM

Mission:
The mission of this team is to provide each baptized infant with a personalized, hand-stitched baptism shell.

Time Commitment:
Tim commitment will vary according to the number of baptisms.

CHURCH LEADERSHIP

Mission:
The mission is to provide leadership for Our Savior Lutheran Church while focusing on our overall mission.

Time Commitment:
Time commitment will vary according to the position

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Serve as an elected representative of the congregation on a variety of boards and committees:

- Board of Directors: President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Member at Large (3)
- Board of Elders
- Board of Trustees
- Board of Education
- Auditing Committee
- Youth MInistry
- Serve on a short-term committee (past examples include the building committee, small group bible studies committee, stewardship committee, ministry committee) as needed

CONFIRMATION TEAM

Mission:
The mission of confirmation is to provide the youth of OSLC with a meaningful Christian education experience, touching their hearts with the person of Jesus Christ.

Time Commitment:
Confirmation meets Wednesday nights from 6:00 - 8:00 during the school year, except during Advent and Lent when it meets from 6:00 to 7:30 pm.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Serve as a confirmation teacher: 7th grade - 1st year, 8th grade - 2nd year, 9th grade - 3rd year
- Serve as a small group guide and work with a group of 4-5 youth
- Serve as a classroom aid helping grade quizzes, tracking Sunday school attendance and sermon notes, and communication with parents
- Serve as a servant event coordinator
- Share your story of faith with the youth
- Pray for youth and adults participating in confirmation

DECORATING TEAM

Mission:
The mission of the decorating team is to decorate the church for holiday, keep plants in the Sanctuary and to plant flowers in front of the church.

Time Commitment:
During the spring and summer months, flowers need to be planted and then cared for a few times a week. Plants in the Sanctuary are watered weekly. Time spent decorating is dependent upon the holiday/season.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Plant flowers in front of the church in the spring
- Care for the flowers in front of the church throughout the summer months
- Maintain plants in the Sanctuary
- Coordinate the decorating of the church for the various holidays and seasons

DEVELOPMENTALLY DISABLED MINISTRY

Mission:
The mission of this team is to serve individuals with unique abilities by providing opportunities for worship and spiritual growth.

Time Commitment:
Time commitment will vary.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Greet and welcome
- Provide transportation
- Be a one-on-one support person, (eg. entering/exiting the building, attending Sunday school, KFC, or other church activities)
- Help to educate the congregation regarding unique abilities
- Become a companion (eg. phone calls, cards for holidays/birthday, visits
- Offer ideas for this new ministry
- Have an open mind and an open heart

DRAMA TEAM

Mission:
The mission of this team is to enhance the understanding of the Gospel message and praise God through drama.

Time Commitment:
The drama team will meet as needed throughout the year on a periodic and seasonal basis. Involvement will be varied and flexible depending upon the project. Rehearsal schedules will be available as projects are introduced.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Utilize your creative gift of expression by acting in a drama
- Use your technical talents to run lights or sound, master props, construct sets, or design wardrobe
- Assist in the direction of a skit, puppet show, or drama
- Offer your gifts of organization in helping with the coordination of a production
- Pray for a clear delivery of the Gospel message to open and receptive hearts

FOREVER YOUNG

Mission:
The mission of this team is to provide Christian fellowship for those 50+ years.

Time Commitment:
Forever Young meets the 3rd Friday of each month from September through May at 6:00 pm.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Participate in Forever Young
- Provide a program for Forever Young (eg. speaking on a topic, singing, etc.)
- Provide program ideas for the Forever Young group
- Donate materials or supplies
- Pray for the participants in Forever Young

FUNERAL COMMITTEE

Mission:
The mission of the funeral committee is to make sure things are prepared for funeral services held at the church.

Time Commitment:
Will vary according to need and numbers

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Volunteer to bring bars and food for the fellowship time following funerals
- Become a volunteer to contact church members to bring bars and food for fellowship following the funeral service
- Assist with food preparation
- Assist with serving following the funeral
- Assist with set up and clean up
- Assist with the general organization of this ministry

HOSPITALITY/WELCOME CENTER TEAM

Mission:
The mission of the Hospitality/Welcome Center team is to create and support a friendly atmosphere of Christian unity; a refuge where the spirit of fellow worshippers can find comfort and strength.

Time Commitment:
15 minutes before each of the Sunday morning services.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Make coffee and set cookies out
- Clean up kitchen after services
- Create a welcoming atmosphere, greet visitors and guests warmly
- Provide information as needed such as worship times, calendar events and ministry opportunities

Kids FOR CHRIST TEAM

Mission:
The mission of the Kids for Christ team is to provide children age 4 through 6th grade with a meaningful and fun Christian education experience.

Time Commitment:
K.F.C. meets from 6:00 - 7:30 pm on Wednesday evenings throughout the school year. There may be short team meetings and/or planning meetings.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Serve on the planning team
- Plan, prepare and serve snacks for children participating in K.F.C.
- Plan and assist K.F.C. participants in making crafts that correspond with the weekly lessons
- Teach weekly lesson or assist with classroom activities
- Prepare and lead games with the K.F.C. participants
- Lead the K.F.C. participants in singing about God and His great love
- Provide snack items
- Pray for the K.F.C. team members and participants

mom's group

Mission:
Mom's group is open to any mom with children of any age. Our purpose is to encourage and share experiences with other mom's; upholding the values of the Bible.

Time Commitment:
Mom's group generally meets every other Saturday at the church beginning at 9:30 am during the school year.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Attend Mom's group as a participant
- Provide child care for children of moms attending Mom's group during the meeting times

Mission:
The mission of this team is to draw people into deeper worship and spiritual renewal through music that offers praise and glory to God.

Time Commitment:
Varies greatly depending upon involvement.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Adult Choir - singing, filing, accompanying
- Praise Band - vocals, instruments
- Piano for preludes, postludes, offertories, and 8:30 worship service
- Special Music - singing, brass band, other instruments

N.U.T.S. TEAM (Never Underestimate the spirit)

Mission:
The mission of this team is to give post-confirmation high school students a place to continue their spiritual grow
th with Christian friends.

Time Commitment:
N.U.T.S. meets Wednesday nights during the school year from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. It does involve some out-of-class preparation time.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Lead N.U.T.S.
- Substitute for the N.U.T.S. leader
- Serve as a guest speaker for N.U.T.S.
- Provide ideas for youth group events, topics, etc.
- Pray for both adults and youth participants of N.U.T.S.
- Volunteer to become part of a N.U.T.S. team and assist in coordinating projects, planning event, providing transportation, etc.

Prayer warriors TEAM

Mission:
Seeking to better our lives as a church family by placing ourselves in the presence of God and trusting Him to change us through His word and both personal and intercessory prayer.

Time Commitment:
Varies and can be in group or private setting.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Intercessory prayer after church services
- Intercessory prayer for requests received by email, phone calls and prayer cards
- Write articles for the church newsletter that give specific prayer emphasis for that month
- Be active in your personal prayer life

reader TEAM

Mission:
The mission of this team is to clearly communicate God's word to His people through the reading of the Old Testament and Epistle lessons.

Time Commitment:
Time commitment would involve attendance at the service for which you are scheduled to read and appropriate preparation.

- Read the Old Testament and Epistle lessons for worship services
- Encourage others to serve in this ministry
- Pray for the Scripture lessons to reach open and receptive hearts

sewing disciples

Mission:
The mission of Sewing Disciples is to provide quilts, school kits, health kits, layettes and dress kits for shipment to Lutheran World Relief.

Time Commitment:
Sewing Disciples meets two Mondays each month during the school year. No sewing experience is needed.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Provide supplies needed for kits
- Assist in assembly and preparation of items for shipping
- Provide fabric for quilts, layettes or simple ladies' dresses
- Cut fabric squares for quilts
- Sew quilt blocks and/or layettes
- Tie quilts

small group bible studies

Mission:
The mission of this small group Bible studies is to provide an opportunity for fellowship and Christian fellowship.

Time Commitment:
Most small group Bible studies meet weekly for about 1-2 hours. Some meet through the year while others meet for the duration of a particular Bible study.

- Host a small group Bible study in your home
- Lead a small group BIble study
- Participate in a small group Bible study
- Provide snacks for a small group Bible study
- Provide donations for Bible study materials

sunday school team

Mission:
The mission of this team is to ensure the children have a Christian education program that will remain with them and builds them to be Christ-like.

Time Commitment:
Sunday School runs during the school year from 9:45 to 10:45 each Sunday morning. Plan for prep time outside of class.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Teach or co-teach a Sunday school class - preschool through high school classes are available
- Substitute for a teacher
- Pray for the youth and adults involved in Sunday school
- Serve as Sunday School superintendent and be responsible for tracking attendance, collecting offerings and supporting and coordinating teacher's needs

tape ministry delivery

Mission:
The mission of the tape ministry is to deliver tapes of the Sunday service to shut-ins along with bulletins, Portals of Prayer, etc.

Time Commitment:
Deliver tapes on Sunday after church service. Time needed is dependent upon the number of volunteers and the number of tape recipients at any given time.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Deliver tapes and bulletins to shut-ins on Sunday afternoons
- Fill in on occasion for the regular delivery people
- Bring the warmth, encouragement, and belonging of a church family to those who are home-bound or shut-in

Mission:
The mission of the tape recording ministry team is to record the workshop services for those who would like a copy.

Time Commitment:
Time involves 1 - 1/2 hours per service. This includes 10 minutes prior to the service and 20 minutes following the service.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Record the worship services
- Utilize the duplicator to create additional tapes as needed

usher TEAM

Mission:
The mission of the usher team is to assist in creating an atmosphere conducive to worship.

Time Commitment:
Time commitment is a total of 2 hours per service. This includes 1/2 hour before and after each service.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Ensure that the sanctuary is neat and orderly
- Make sure the guest registration books are placed on the end of each row
- Ensure the candles are lit before each service
- Provide assistance for those from the REM home or who are in wheelchairs as needed
- Hand out the bulletins as people enter the sanctuary
- As the church fills up, help people find a seat
- Smile and be friendly
- Watch for late arrivals and greet them as they arrive
- Take the offering
- Count and record the number of people in attendance
- Usher for communion
- Clean up the sanctuary after each service
- Remove the signed attendance sheets and place them on the secretary's desk in the office

V.B.S. Team (vacation bible school)

Mission:
The mission of this team is to provide a quality one-week Christian education program for youth from our church and in the community.

Time Commitment:
Planning, coordinating, recruiting and training involves periodic meetings over 3 months. VBS runs over a week, typically in the evenings during the summer.

Ways You Can Serve in this Ministry:
- Chair or co-chair the VBS team
- Serve as a VBS team member
- Recruit teachers and volunteers for VBS
- Train VBS teachers and volunteers
- Pray for youth and adults participating in VBS
- Donate supplies for VBS
- Donate snacks for VBS
- Provide monetary donations to be used for VBS scholarships

Mission:
The mission of this team is to plan and prepare youth events and trips that will encourage them in their spiritual growth and be fun for the youth.

Time Commitment:
Time commitment will vary according to the event.

- Help come up with ideas for youth events and trips
- Assist in planning youth events and trips

The mission of the youth fundraising team is to raise funds so that youth may attend activities that will help to strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Time commitment varies with level of involvement

- Attend fundraising meetings
- Encourage youth to attend activities
